Leveraging of Funds Prepared by Work Center June 2004 <br /> <br />Entrepreneurial Traininq <br />Irene Martinez presented the Santa Ana Federal Empowerment Zone <br />Daisy Wheel Entrepreneurial Training Program - highlighting the <br />following: <br /> <br />FEZ Entrepreneurial Program Accomplishments <br />. Enrolled 127 FEZ Businesses Conducted 5 (21 Hour) Entrepreneurial <br />Cou rses <br />. Organized A business Expo (170 Attendees) <br />. Conducted 4 business related seminars (180 Participants) addressing <br />customer Service, management, supervision and marketing <br />. Some Challenges in Phase I <br />. Barriers to overcome <br />. Strengths to Build On <br />. Proposed Services for Phase II <br />. Business & Workforce Development Center and Business & Workforce <br />Development Center Partners <br /> <br />Resident Ombudsman <br />Dolores Barrett presented: <br /> <br />. Reporting a snapshot of scope or work and status of meeting current <br />goals <br />. Strategies employed <br />. Schools targeted by FED Resident Ombudsman Component; a total of <br />18 schools targeted in the Federal Empowerment Zones and <br />developmental sites <br /> <br />Motion: <br /> <br />Approve the Budget and Program Task Force recommendation to <br />award a contract extension for Phase II of the Service Navigator <br />($930,000) and the Entrepreneurial Training ($75,000) components of <br />the Daisy Wheel Program. The marketing and outreach efforts <br />previously peñormed by the Resident Ombudsman ($75,000) <br />component will now be peñormed by the Service Navigator and <br />Entrepreneurial Training components at a cost of $50,000 and <br />$25,000 respectively.
