MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />August 29, 1978 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Vernon S. Evans at <br />5:10 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. <br />Council members present were Gordon Bricken, Harry K. Yamamoto, <br />John Garthe, David L. Brandt, James E. Ward and Mayor Vernon S. <br />Evans. Councilman David F. Ortiz was absent. The following <br />members of Staff were also present: Acting City Manager and <br />City Attorney Keith L. Gow, Assistant City Manager Daniel E. <br />Stone, Community Redevelopment Director Richard C. Goblirsch, <br />Community Relations Director Peter Grams, and Clerk of the <br />Council Florence t. Malone. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />man Brandt. <br /> <br />Following the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the <br />Flag, the Invocation <br />was given by Council- <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-1450 FIXING AN ORDINANCE OF THE <br />THE TAX RATE PLACED ON CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />FIRST READING FIXING THE RATE OF AND <br /> LEVYING TAXES IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF EIGHTY-SIX CENTS PER ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OF ASSESSED <br />VALUATION ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY FOR ALL MUNICIPAL <br />PURPOSES BEGINNING JULY 1, 1978, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1979 was <br />placed on first reading and publication of its title was <br />authorized on the unanimously carried 6:0 motion of Councilman <br />Brandt, seconded by Councilma~ Garthe. CA 68 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-1450.1 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />FIXING THE TAX RATE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />ADOPTED AS EMERGENCY ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATE OF AND <br /> LEVYING TAXES IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF EIGHTY-SIX CENTS PER ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OF ASSESSED <br />VALUATION ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY FOR ALL MUNICIPAL <br />PURPOSES BEGINNING JULY 1, 1978, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1979 AND <br />STATING THE REASONS FOR ITS URGENCY was adopted as an emergency <br />ordinance on the unanimously carried 6:0 motion of Councilman <br />Garthe, seconded by'Councilman Brandt. CA 65 <br /> <br />RECESS At 5:12 P.M., the Council <br /> meeting was recessed by <br /> Mayor Evans to convene <br /> the Community Development <br />Agency and the Housing Authority. The meeting was reconvened at <br />6:15 P.M. - with the same Council members in attendance. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS REQUESTS TO Louis Kossuth, producer <br />EXTEND AGREEMENT FOR MOTORCYCLE of the speedway motor- <br />RACES AT STADIUM - REFERRED TO STAFF cycle races at Eddie West <br /> Field' - Santa Ana Stadium, <br />requested Council to approve an amendment to his existing agree- <br />ment to schedule a final World Qualifier Race in the Stadium in <br />November, 1978. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />363 AUGUST 29, 1978 <br /> <br /> <br />
