<br />REFERRED BACK TO STAFF Corp,, requested clarification of
<br /> the six-month evaluation period for
<br />the bus shelters authorized by Council on March 19, 1979. He stated that the bus
<br />shelter companies (American Bus Shelter, Convenience & Safety Corporation and Eko
<br />Shelter Ads) would require long-term seven-year contracts in order to obtain the
<br />necessary financing, and that it was his understanding that if any company had not
<br />produced within the six months evaluation period, its contract would be cancelled.
<br />
<br />Following consideration of the report dated April 27, 1979, prepared bythe Traffic
<br />Engineer, MOTION was made by Markel, seconded byYamamoto, to refer the matter back
<br />to staff for clarification of proposed bus shelter contracts and report to Council
<br />on May 21, 1979.

<br />VISUAL SUPERVISION OF PRISONERS the report dated April 23, 1979, pre-
<br />POLICE CHIEF - AUTHORIZED pared by the Police Department, MOTION

<br />Yamamoto, to authorize the Police Chief to submit a Law Enforcement Assistance
<br />Administration grant application for $9,500 in federal funds, matched by $5,500
<br />local funds, on behalf of the City, in order to provide visual supervision by
<br />video monitoring of arrested persons held in temporary facilities, as required
<br />by State Administrative Code.
