<br /> Council of his upcoming resigna-
<br />tion, and introduced Nancy Kaufman, Managing Attorney, and Mary Lou Turner,
<br />appointed Acting Executive Director of Legal Aid. Background was provided
<br />on the request for sponsorship by the City for the application for grant
<br />funds for the Southern California Housing Task Force, outlined in the letter
<br />dated June 5, 1979, from Legal Aid. Following Council discussion, MOTION
<br />was made by Bricken, seconded by Luxembourger, that:

<br />The City of Santa Ana apply for the grant entitled, Innovative
<br />Projects, Title 24, Section 570,406, U. S. Department of Housing
<br />and Urban Development;
<br />
<br />z)
<br />
<br />The Legal Aid Society of Orange County be named as subcontractor
<br />in the Application;
<br />
<br />3)
<br />
<br />The City Manager be instructed to coordinate with Legal Aid
<br />Society of Orange County on the Task Force Project;
<br />
<br />4)
<br />
<br />Staff be instructed to prepare an agreement with Legal Aid
<br />Society of Orange County implementing 1, 2 and 3 above;
<br />
<br />5)
<br />
<br />The authorization does not include any expenditure of City funds
<br />other than staff support; and
<br />
<br />6)
<br />
<br />Sponsorship of the project by the City does not constitute
<br />endorsement of any litigation or any conclusions dra~m by the
<br />Legal Aid Society resulting from the Project.
