(Agenda Item 35) AYES: NOES: BRICKEN, GRISET, LUXEMBOURGER, MARKEL, SERRATO, WARD, YAMAMOTO NONE RESOLUTION NO. 79-124 MOTION was made by Luxembourger, POLICE CO~qANDER CLASSIFICATION seconded by Ward, to adopt the ADOPTED - CLASSIFICATION following resolution, and to direct ~CATION - REVISED staff to revise the proposed classification specification for Police Con~nander to delete "serves as second in command"; to change "bureau" to "division" wherever it appears in the specification; tO allow each year of police executive experience as a Police Captain to be substituted for one year of college up to a maximum of two years for the initial appointment to the position only, on the condition that if in lieu experience is substi- tuted for the educational requirement, appointee ~ust obtain the required bachelor's degree within two years of acceptance of the appointment; to require a bachelors degree in Police Science, Public Administration or a directly related field for subsequent appointments; to include completion of Police Officers Standards and Training (POST) basic, intermediate, advanced, supervisory and administrative certificate requirements; and to delete the "with the City of Santa Ana" Clause in the experience requirements.
