<br />The meeting was called to order in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center
<br />Plaza, at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor James E. Ward. Council members present were
<br />Gordon Bricken, R. W. Luxembourger, J. Ogden Markel, A1 Serrato, Harry K.
<br />Yamamoto and Mayor Ward. Councilman Daniel E. Griset, arrived at 5:35 p.m.
<br />Also present were City Manager/Acting Clerk of the Council B. J. Thompson,
<br />City Attorney Keith L. Gow, and Deputy Clerk of the Council Martha Lee.

<br />COMP~NSATION ADJUSTMENTS Following consideration of
<br />EXECUTIVE & MIDDLE-MANAGt~NT the recommendations contained
<br />RESOLUTION 79-146 - ADOPT~) in the report dated August 23,
<br /> 1979, prepared by the City
<br />Manager, MDTION was made by Bricken, seconded by Ward, to approve an
<br />additional 4% salary adjustment for the nine Battalion Chief positions
<br />to establish salary parity with the Police Lieutenant class.

<br />posed Battalion Chief salary adjustment on September 4, 1979.

<br />MOTION was made by Bricken, seconded by Ward, to approve an additional 6%
<br />salary adjustment for ExecutiveAssistant to the City Manager to provide
<br />a level of compensation c~mnensurate with the prevailing rates paid com-
<br />parable positions in other large public agencies.

<br />MOTION was made by Bricken, seconded by Griset, to approve changing the
<br />title of Payroll Clerk to Payroll Accounts Supervisor, to increase the
<br />salary level to Salary Range No. 384, and to add the class to the middle-
<br />management category of classes.
