MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA/INA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />October 24, 1979 <br /> <br />The meeting was informally convened at the Nieuport 17 restaurant, 1615 <br />E. Seventeenth Street, Santa Ana, at 7:15 p.m. Council members present <br />were Gordon Bricken, Daniel E. Griset, J. Ogden Markel, Mayor James E. <br />Ward, and Harry K. Yamamoto. Councilmen R. W. Loxembourger and Alfred <br />C. Serrato were absent. California Senator Paul Carpenter and Kathy <br />Hudson of the Senator's staff, City Manager B. J. Thompson, City Attorney <br />Keith L. Cow, and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy were also present. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION OF MATTERS Discussion was informal and <br />OF LEGISLATIVE CONCERN included the following subjects: <br />TO SANTA ANA the need for action regarding <br /> the Peripheral Canal; the inrpact <br />of the proposed Gann~amendment on local jurisdictions; the likelihood of <br />approval by the State of funding for several transportation projects - <br />the Amtrak station, the Broadway overpass - in Santa Ana; the negative <br />effect on the local financial planning process caused by the SB 154 audit- <br />ing clause and AB 8 deflator provision; the need for development of new <br />energy sources since the Sundesert project has been scrapped; the growing <br />cooperation between the cities of Irvine, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and other <br />neighboring jurisdictions, and the ability of Santa Ana to provide fire <br />services to those areas which have been impacted by Proposition 13. <br /> <br />Senator Carpenter complimented Santa Ana on the progress that is evident <br />in Santa Ana and the long-range planning by City Council, mentioning in <br />particular the City's efforts relative to the Bowers Museum and Heritage <br />Park. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at <br />9:30 p.m. by unanimous <br />consent. <br /> <br /> c. -/ <br />RI( OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />371 <br /> <br />OCTOBER 24, 1979 <br /> <br /> <br />
