It was emphasized that with escalating fuel costs and
spiraling inflation, the need, to not only plan but implement such a
system, has increased. Reichert further mentioned that a "reasonable"
system and "getting started" are essential if future transit needs are to
be met.

Construction and operations financing, as well as modes, were discussed.
Statistics (from a limited sample) were presented which indicated a
tendency of the public to favor a monorail system.

The OCTD representatives expressed their desire that Anaheim, Costa Mesa,
Garden Grove, Irvine and Santa Ana explore the possibility of "sharing"
expenses for development of a mass rapid transit system.

Mayor Ward expressed his appreciation to the OCTD representatives and
thanked all in attendance for participating.
