Wilshire, <br />Vice President of LULAC #147, <br />urged Council consider input <br />from ethnic groups in conjunc- <br />prepared by the Personnel <br />report reflected progress of the <br />taken by Council would be proce- <br />seconded by Serrato, to receive <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Bricken, Griset, Luxe~ourger, Markel, Serrato, Yamamoto <br />None <br />Ward CA 50.4 <br /> <br />BOWERS MUSEUM EXPANSION In conjunction with considera- <br />SUPPORT - REAFFIRMED tion of the report dated June 10, <br />IMPLEMENTATION PLAN - APPROVED 1980, prepared by the Museum <br /> Director, Chairman Everett Parks <br />of the Bowers Museum Memorial Board affirmed the Board's review and support <br />of the Implementation Plan for the proposed expansion of the Bowers Museum. <br />Marian Poucher, Third Vice President of the Bowers Museum Foundation Board, <br />spoke in support of the Implementation Plan and presented a letter from <br />Augusta Hoiles, First Vice President, which contained the Foundation Board's <br />endorsement. <br /> <br />The Museum Director answered Council questions. Following discussion, <br />MOTION was made by Serrato, seconded by Luxembourger, to reaffirm <br />support of the Museum expansion program with the provisos that Orange <br />County history be given recognition and prominence within the permanent <br />Museum exhibits, "local color" and the regional character of the Museum <br />be retained in the original structure, and the identify of the Bowers <br />Museum be maintained as a distinct entity; and approve the Implementation <br />Plan as outlined with said plan to be monitored by staff. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 203 JUNE 16, 1980 <br /> <br /> <br />
