MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />July 21, 1980 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:22 p.m. by Mayor James E. Ward in <br />the City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, following the regular <br />meeting of the Community Redevelopment Agency. Council members present <br />were Gordon Bricken, Daniel E. Griset, Robert W. Luxembourger, J. Ogden <br />Markel, Alfred C. Serrato, Harry K. Yamamoto, and Mayor James Ward. <br />City Manager Ao J. Wilson, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper, and Clerk of <br />the Council Janice C. Guy were also present. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />ceding Agency meeting. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to <br />the Flag and Invocation by <br />Councilman Serrato were <br />observed during the pre- <br /> <br />AGENDA ORDER The Mayor called for requests <br />AFTERNOON ITEMS from the public for items to <br />CONTINUED TO EVENING be heard by Council prior to <br /> dinner recess. Hearing none, <br />the entire afternoon agenda was continued to the evening session by <br />unanimous informal consent of the Council. <br /> <br />RECESS - DINNER At 5:24 p.m. the Council <br />RECONVENED recessed to dinner at <br /> Santa Ana Zoo in Prentice <br /> Park, First Street & Santa <br />Ana Freeway. The meeting was reconvened in the Council Chambers at <br />7:35 p.m. with all members present. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Following the Pledge of Alle- <br />giance to the Flag, the Invoca- <br />tion was given by Councilman <br />Yamamoto. <br /> <br />COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Mary Douglas, Executive Direc- <br />YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION tor, South Orange County YW~CA, <br /> reported on the history of the <br /> organization and current services <br />provided to women and girls in the community. The Mayor presented Ms. <br />Douglas with a City seal tile plaque as an expression of appreciation <br />for the excellent programs offered by the South Orange County Young <br />Women's Christian Association. CA 9.3 <br /> <br />OATH OF OFFICE - A. H. GALLARDO The Clerk of the Council admin- <br />HUMAN RELATIONS/HOUSING COMMISSION istered the Oath of Office to <br /> A. H. Gallardo, who was welcomed <br /> by the Council as a new member <br />of the Human Relations Commission & Housing Commission.
