<br />'Redevelopment Agency <br /> <br /> <br />Date <br /> <br />October 7. 1974 <br /> <br />MÈMORANDUM <br />~ , . <br />< , <br /> <br />To': <br /> <br />F,om: <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />CONDEMNATION ùF PROPERTY <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Redevelopment staff, in conjunction with the Attorney's Office, <br />has been negotiating with Jack Stanley and Michael Doyle in order <br />to purchase their property parcel #008-051-16 at Santa Ana <br />Boulevard and Ross. <br /> <br />As you know, staff strongly recommends that purchase of this parcel <br />is necessary in order to assure proper development around Civic <br />Center, The use suggested by Stanley (a 5,000 sq, ft, office <br />structure) is clearly an inappropriate land use for this area. We <br />feel the parcel should be held for future civic center expansion <br />so that Civic Center is focused toward our downtown rather than <br />allowed to spread in a linear fashion toward Bristol. <br /> <br />Attached to the memo is a letter stating our offer to purchase the <br />property. In a prior meeting Stanley rejected this offer. At this <br />point, staff recommends that an action of condemnation against this <br />property should be filed immediately. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution 74-18 approving the filing of condemnation against <br />the Stanley/Doyle property. <br /> <br />(t~f,~tn <br /> <br />Richard E.
