RESOLUTION NO. 80-195 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA VACATING A PORTION OF COLLEGE <br />AVENUE NORTH OF SEVENTEENTH STREET, STREET ABANDONMENT <br />NO. 100. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Bricken, Griset, Markel, Serrato, Ward, Yamamoto <br />None <br />Luxembourger <br /> <br />CA 14 <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - VA 80-37 The Mayor announced that this <br />1441-A S SYCAMORE - was the time and place for the <br />CITY ATTORNEY INSTRUCTED public hearing on Variance <br /> No. 80-37 - 1441-A South <br />Sycamore, filed by J. Ogden Markel, to convert an existing ground floor <br />office to an apartment unit in the C2 District. Councilman Markel <br />declared a conflict of interest on the matter, and left the Council <br />Chambers. <br /> <br />The Planning Director presented the staff report and recommendations. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council reported there were no written communications. <br /> <br />John Garthe, 1104 North Freeman Street, spoke on behalf of Mr. Markel, <br />in favor of the variance. <br /> <br />Mickey Madden, 2319 N. Rosewood Avenue, spoke of the need for more <br />housing in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />There were no other speakers on the matter.
