RESOLUTION NO. 80-195 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA VACATING A PORTION OF COLLEGE AVENUE NORTH OF SEVENTEENTH STREET, STREET ABANDONMENT NO. 100. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bricken, Griset, Markel, Serrato, Ward, Yamamoto None Luxembourger CA 14 PUBLIC HEARING - VA 80-37 The Mayor announced that this 1441-A S SYCAMORE - was the time and place for the CITY ATTORNEY INSTRUCTED public hearing on Variance No. 80-37 - 1441-A South Sycamore, filed by J. Ogden Markel, to convert an existing ground floor office to an apartment unit in the C2 District. Councilman Markel declared a conflict of interest on the matter, and left the Council Chambers. The Planning Director presented the staff report and recommendations. The Clerk of the Council reported there were no written communications. John Garthe, 1104 North Freeman Street, spoke on behalf of Mr. Markel, in favor of the variance. Mickey Madden, 2319 N. Rosewood Avenue, spoke of the need for more housing in Santa Ana. There were no other speakers on the matter. The Mayor closed the public hearing. Following discussion, MOTION made by Griset, seconded by Ward, to approve and file the Negative Declaration and to instruct the City Attorney ~o prepare a resolution to DENY Variance No. 80-37, affirming the decision of the Planning Commission, was approved on the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAINED: Bricken, Griset, Serrato, Ward Yamamoto Luxembourger Markel CA 13 The Council recessed from 9:05 p.m. to 9:17 p.m. AGENDA ORDER PUBLIC HEARING - APPEAL NO. 442 - VA 80-15 - 1801 E 4TH ST. - CONTINUED TO 11-17-80 Following consideration of a letter dated October 31, 1980, received from Arnel Development Company requesting a continuance on Appeal No. 422, Variance No. 80-15 - 1801 East Fourth Street, MOTION was made by Serrato, seconded by Ward, to continue the matter to November 17, 1980. BETWEEN was the time and place for the NEWHOPE & SHANNON STS. - ORDINANCE public hearing to rezone property NO. NS-1553 PLACED ON 1ST READING located on the south side of First Street between Newhope and Shannon Streets, Amendment Application No. 788, filed by Jansvu Propertys' Inc., from the C2 (General Commercial) and M1 (Light Industrial) Districts to the R2 (Multiple Family Residence) District.
