APPEAL NO. 462 - VA 81-33 <br />1411E. 1ST ST. <br />CA AUTHORIZED <br /> <br />questions posed by Council. <br /> <br />Edison W. Miller, 1600 N. <br />Broadway, attorney representing <br />the applicant, reviewed the <br />matter for Council and answered <br /> <br />Following discussion, MOTION was made by Acosta, seconded by Serrato, <br />to receive and file the Notice of Exemption, and instruct the City Attorney <br />to prepare a resolution granting Appeal No. 462, granting Variance Applica- <br />tion No. 81-33 for a period of six months only, subject to all staff's <br />recommendations, overruling the decision of the Planning Commission, and <br />informing the Alcoholic Beverage Commission that the applicant is willing <br />to surrender its license in the six-month period if the guidelines are not <br />complied with. <br /> <br />Motion passed on the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Bricken, Luxembourger, Markel, Serrato <br />Griset, McGuigan <br />None <br /> <br />CA 13.4 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Alan Kunski, 505 S. Main, <br />A. KUNSKI, R. ALEXANDER addressed Council regarding <br /> the situation of his property <br /> in the redevelopment area, <br />stating that off-street parking is already limited, and the elimination <br />of all off-street parking will create more of a problem. <br /> <br />Robert Alexander, 1414A S. Main, expressed the same concerns regarding <br />parking. <br /> <br />Mr. Kunski and Mr. Alexander were informed that the City Manager's office <br />would be in contact with them. CA 82 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> <br />Ana who was not paying union wages. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta stated <br />that according to the Labor <br />International Union, there <br />was a contractor in Santa <br /> <br />Councilmember Serrato stated that more stringent penalties should be <br />enacted toward those contractors who are in violation of the Davis-Bacon <br />Act. He stated that certain contractors in Santa Ana are not adhering <br />to union wages. <br /> <br />Councilmember Luxembourger stated that when the City pays on a bid, <br />it is based on union scale. He also stated that with regard to the <br />redevelopment project on south Main, he would not support the removal <br />of any parking until a solution is arrived at.
