<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APRIL 4, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 1 sl Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING <br />SERVICES WITH METCALF & EDDY <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Metcalf & Eddy in <br />the amount of $152,513 plus a contingency of $15,000 for a total project <br />amount not to exceed $167,513 for design of the West Pump Station <br />Facilities Upgrade Project. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In October 2004, the City was awarded an Environmental Protection Agency <br />(EPA) federal grant for improvements to the City's West Pump Station <br />Facility, (Exhibit 1). The improvements will consist of constructing a <br />pump building, replacing the booster pumps, motors, and appurtenances, <br />and installing all new electrical equipment and instrumentation. <br /> <br />Requests for Proposal to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates <br />were sent to six engineering firms . Five responses were received and <br />evaluated on technical merit by a four-member selection committee. Two <br />of the firms received passing scores of 70 or higher. They <br />were the top ranked firm based on technical merit and submitted the <br />lowest cost proposal. Their proposal demonstrated that the firm has <br />extensive experience with similar projects, a good understanding of the <br />project goals and objectives, and a strong project team. <br /> <br />25F-1 <br />
