<br />2005 JAG Grant <br />April 18, 2005 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />In previous years, the Byrne Formula Grant has been administered by the <br />County of Orange to fund PROACT, the Orange County Methamphetamine Task <br />Force, which is charged with the investigation and hazardous material <br />mi tigation of methamphetamine labs wi thin our county. The LLEBG funding <br />programs were administered by the individual cities to address their <br />specific law enforcement needs. Under the new Federal guidelines for the <br />JAG funding program, the County is required to submit one joint application <br />for the aggregate funds. <br /> <br />The Orange County Chief's and Sheriff Association has come to an agreement <br />that the County of Orange, Sheriff's Department, will submit the joint <br />application for the 2005 JAG program. The Association agreed to leave 41 <br />percent of each city's funding with the County of Orange to fund the PROACT <br />Task Force. The remaining 59 percent will be given back to the cities to <br />address their specific law enforcement needs. Of the $207,389 awarded for <br />Santa Ana, $85,029 will be designated for the County's PROACT program. The <br />remaining $122,360 will be utilized by the City on gang suppression <br />activities. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />The appropriation adjustment will enhance the 2005 JAG Grant revenue <br />account (account no. 128-01-5359) by $122,360 and the expenditure account <br />(account no. 128-337-6141) by $122,360. <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br /> <br />"- )J ll~~ <br /> <br />Paul M.
