WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana did, by Ordi- nances NS-1666 and NS-1667, dated January 3, 1983, call for a general municipal election to be held in the City of Santa Aha on April 5, 1983 to fill the offices of members of the said Council to be nominated from Wards Two, Four and Six of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, in addition, pursuant to the said ordinances, the follow- ing propositions were submitted to the' voters of the City at said election: PROPOSITION A - ELECTION BY WARD. Shall Section 400 of the Charter be amended to provide that each councilmember shall be elected by the vote of only those electors of the ward from which such council- member was nominated, rather than elected by the vote of the electors of the city at large? PROPOSITION B - BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. Shall Section 901 of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana be amended to provide that the terms of members of City boards and commissions which are established by the Charter or by ordinance of the city council shall run concurrently with the terms of the city council members? WHEREAS, this Council did, by its Resolution No. 82-176, dated December 20, 1982, direct the Clerk of the Council to canvass the returns of the said election pursuant to Section 22932.5 of the Elections Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Council has completed the canvass of the returns of the said election and has certified the results thereof to this Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T~E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the abovesaid election was duly held on April 5, 1983. 2. That the results of the said election, including the whole number of votes cast in the city, the names of the persons voted for, the measures voted upon, what office each person was voted for, the number of votes given at each precinct to each person and for and against each measure, and the number of votes given in the city to each person and for and against each measure, are as set forth in that certain "Statement of Results, Regular General Municipal Election of the City of Santa Ana, April 5, 1983" on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Ana, incorporated herein by this reference as though fully set forth. 3. That, based upon the said results, the following persons are de- clared elected to the following respective offices, for four-year terms commencing April 12, 1983: ROBERT W, LUXEMBOURGER, Member of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana from Ward Two. P. LEE JOHNSON, Member of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana from Ward Four. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 108 APRIL 12, 1983
