Jerome L. Amante, Loeb & Loeb, One Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 1600, Los Angeles, representing Joan Irvine Smith, inquired as to the action on item#45 on the Council agenda of June 20, 1983. Mr. Amante was referred to the Clerk of the Council. Scott Richard Bowen, 2428 N. Valencia, addressed Council with regard to a complaint he wanted to file with the Santa Ana Police Department, which he said would not be taken from him. The City Attorney received Mr. Bowen's complaint personally, and indicated said complaint would be forward to the proper authority. Filed by Gannett Outdoor Advertising, appealing the Planning Con~nission's denial of CUP 82-22 and Variance 83-2, to permit an off-premise outdoor advertising sign 42 feet in height at 100 S. Harbor Blvd. in the C2 District, and to exceed height limits for an off-premise advertising sign at 100 S. RITCHEY Filed by Gannett Outdoor Co., appealing the Planning Cor~ssion's denial of CUP 82-20 & VA 82-21, to permit one off-premise billboard 54 feet in height at 1969-2019 S. Ritchey in the M1 District, and to waive the requirement prohibiting advertising signs within 500 feet of a freeway when viewed primarily from a freeway, at 1969- 2019 S. Ritchey. The Director of Planning and Development Services presented the staff report and recon~endations. The Chief of Planning outlined the technical details relative to the appeals. The Clerk of the Council reported no written cormunications. Sherry Bennett, Gannett Outdoor Advertising, spoke in favor of Appeal Nos. 480, 482, 478, 483, 479 and 481.
