<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />MAY 2, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO THE <br />SANTA ANA RIVER TASK FORCE <br /> <br />1/) // <br />k/ I jjl/? <br />7;:1,.,j~ / /'/ r:~----- <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of 22 individuals to serve as the Santa Ana River <br />Task Force to prepare a report on habitat restoration and recreational <br />opportunities at the river. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On November 15, 2004 the City Council approved the formation of the Santa <br />Ana River Task Force to study the possibility of restoring the natural <br />habitat environment and providing recreational opportunities at the river. <br />In January, the Park Development, Recreation Programs, and Education <br />Partnerships Council Committee solicited membership applications from <br />various governmental organizations and community groups with an interest <br />in the development of the river. <br /> <br />In March, the Committee reviewed candidate applications. Exhibit A lists <br />the individuals recommended by the Committee for official appointment by <br />the City Council. Upon approval of the task force members, a series of <br />meetings will be scheduled to discuss and prepare a plan and report.
