<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-045 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO <br />EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT FOR <br />THE 2005 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES <br />DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AS FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The Santa Ana Police Department has been selected to receive a <br />grant from the United States Department of Justice, in the amount <br />of $207,389.00, for the 2005 funding year. <br /> <br />B. The Federal Omnibus Appropriations Act has combined two grant <br />programs, the Byrne Formula Grant and the local law <br />Enforcement Grant, into the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice <br />Assistance Grant (JAG). These funds are allocated to local law <br />enforcement agencies based on population and crime rates. <br /> <br />C. Under the JAG Program, Orange County is required to submit one <br />joint application for funding. <br /> <br />D. Of the $207,389.00 allocated to the City of Santa Ana, $85,029.00 <br />will be used to fund PROACT, the Orange County <br />Methamphetamine Task Force. The remaining $122,360.00 will be <br />utilized by the City Of Santa Ana for gang suppression activities. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager and the Chief of <br />Police, or their designees, to execute the 2005 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice <br />Assistance Grant Agreement in the amount of $207,389.00. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its <br />adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and <br />certify the vote adopting this Resolution. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 18th day of April 2005. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2005-045 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
