MINUTES OF THE Rf~TJlAR MEETIN~ <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN~A ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />MOBDAY, FEB~3ARY 6, 1984 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 1:~9 p.m. in Room 147, City Council <br />Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor R. W. Luxembourger. <br />Councilmembers present were Gordon Bricken, P. Lee Johnson, Patricia <br />A. McGuigan, Dan Young and Mayor Luxembourger. Also present were <br />Deputy City Manager Swanson, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk <br />of the Council Janice C. Guy, as well as members of the City's <br />Executive Management staff. Councilmembers Daniel E. Griset and John <br />Acosta joined the meeting at 1:13 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. ~espectJve]y. <br /> <br />The Fire Chief explained that his department in conjunction with the <br />Chamber of Coo~merce, First American Title Co~loany and Jim Ramsey of <br />the Fluor Corporation bad prepared a slide presentation for Council's <br />viewing in the City Council Chambers. <br /> <br />At 1:11 p.m., the Council recessed to the Chambers for the viewing of <br />"Proactive Cora~unity Protection," a slide presentation dispicting the <br />history of the Santa Ana Fire Department from its inception in 1883 <br />through its development in the 1900's under the direction of Fire <br />Chef§' Luxembourger and Garthe, to its attainment of a Class 1 fire <br />rating in 1982. <br /> <br />At l:3M p.m., the Council reoonvened in Room 147 with all <br />Councilmembers present and also City Manager Robert C. Bobb. <br />Following ~ecognition of Linda White's and Jim Ramsey's contributions <br />in making the slide presentation, the Fire Chief responded to <br />Councilmembers' questions regarding chemical hazards, the challenge of <br />the 1980's to fire protection, and described Department achievements <br />relative to hazardous materials response and disposal of <br />contaminants. <br /> <br />Linda Frace introduced and narrated a slide presentation concerning <br />the Orange County Performing Arts Center currently under construction <br />in Costa Mesa i~mediately adjacent to the City of Santa Ana. She <br />explained the Center was projected to open in October, 1986, and would <br />host performances of musical theater, opera, ballet and symphony. She <br />requested that the City Councilmembers provide her with information on <br />the best way to approach Santa Ana businesses for contributions to the <br />Center. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUiF~ 31 FEBRUARY 6, 1984 <br /> <br /> <br />
