<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~. <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />MAY 16, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT AMENDMENT FOR <br />FRANKLIN-COVEY COMPANY <br /> <br />C:~~~ <br /> <br />T MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />the Franklin-Covey Company to increase the aggregate limit by $6,000 for <br />the purchase of training materials in an annual amount not to exceed <br />$16,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City has instituted a comprehensive Public Business Academy (PBA) <br />program for professional development. The goal of the Academy is to <br />enhance the knowledge and skills of the City's employees and to reinforce <br />their understanding of the organization's purpose, vision, and goals. <br />The Academy provides city employees with seminars that teach cutting edge <br />public administration theory and techniques in such areas as Total <br />Quality Management, public sector finance, decision-making and leadership <br />development. <br /> <br />The City utilizes training materials from the Franklin-Covey Company, a <br />recognized leader in the field of management and leadership development, <br />for general training and its PBA program. In order to provide further <br />training, additional materials are required. The purchase of the <br />addi tional materials, when added to the vendor's fiscal purchases will <br />exceed the $10,000 aggregate total, and requires Council approval. Staff <br />recommends Council approval of an amendment to the agreement. <br /> <br />25E-1 <br />
