<br />of up to six (6) months, and at the discretion of the Chief <br />of Police, for an additional six (6) months; and that the <br />employee assigned to f ill such a position shall receive <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay as set forth below: <br /> <br />A. Eligibility. <br />Full-time employees shall be assigned to fill a vacant, <br />full-time budgeted, higher-level position, and shall <br />receive Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay for filling <br />that position, when the occupier of that position is <br />not performing the duties of that position for a period <br />of two (2) consecutive calendar weeks or more. An <br />employee filling a position under this section who is <br />absent for two (2) days or less during the two (2) <br />consecutive calendar week period will not lose his or <br />her eligibility for Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay; <br />however, the days of absence shall not be counted in <br />the computation of the two week period. <br /> <br />In computing qualifying service or temporary upgrade <br />assignment pay only full days of actual duty shall be <br />included. Partial days shall not be combined to make <br />full days unless they are holiday hours. Holiday time <br />off will be included in computing actual duty days. <br /> <br />Employees holding the position immediately subordinate <br />to the vacant, full-time, budgeted, higher-level <br />position to be filled shall be given first <br />consideration to said position consistent with the <br />operational needs of the department. When there is <br />more than one (1) employee holding the position <br />immediately subordinate to the vacant, full-time, <br />budgeted, higher-level position to be filled, the most <br />senior employee holding one of the immediately <br />subordinate positions shall be assigned to said <br />position consistent with the operational needs of the <br />department. <br /> <br />Non-permanent employees (probationary, part-time, <br />seasonal, etc.) and employees performing work above <br />their regular class in a training capacity shall not be <br />assigned to a vacant, full-time, budgeted, higher-level <br />position in accordance with this section unless <br />specifically authorized by the City Manager. <br /> <br />B. Compensation. <br /> <br />1. After an employee has served two (2) consecutive <br />calendar weeks in a vacant, full-time, budgeted, <br />higher-level position, he shall be compensated at <br />the Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay rate for <br />each full day that he is assigned to the higher- <br />level position, retroactive to the first (1st) day <br /> <br />20 <br />
