<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />JUNE 20, 2005 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />DOWNTOWN SANTA ANA BUSINESS <br />IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br />CONSULTANT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />-/ <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with a Business Improvement <br />District Consultant, selected by City Staff in consultation with <br />downtown business interests, in an amount not to exceed $15,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />At its meeting of January 3, 2005, City Council directed staff to retain <br />a consultant to study restructuring the Downtown Santa Ana Business <br />Improvement District as part of the 2004-2005 annual assessment. <br /> <br />Since January 2005, staff has been working with representatives of the <br />downtown to resolve some fundamental issues relating to the BID before <br />hiring a consultant. At this point, ci ty staff as well as <br />representatives of the downtown concur that a BID Consultant be <br />retained. The 2004-2005 annual assessment budget provides for <br />$15,000.00 for a BID Consultant to study the prospect of modifying the <br />current BID structure. The downtown businesses and City staff will work <br />together to select a BID Consultant with the appropriate expertise and <br />knowledge. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds are available for the BID Consultant in the Business Improvement <br />District Trust and Agency Reserve Account (account no. 91-01-3611). <br /> <br />25U-1 <br />
