MINUTES OF THE ~EGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFONIA <br /> <br />July 16, 1984 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m., in Room 512, City Hall, <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor R. W. Luxembourger. Councilmembers <br />present were John Acosta, P. Lee Johnson, Patricia A. McGuigan, Dan <br />Young, and Mayor Luxembourger. Also present were City Manager Robert <br />C. Bobb, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper, and Assistant Clerk of the <br />Council Nancy Byron Dean, as well as members of the City staff and the <br />press. Councilmember Bricken joined the meeting at 1:17 p.m. <br /> <br />MOTION: Excuse Councilmember Griset from Council meeting of July <br /> 16, 1984. <br /> <br />MOTION: McGuigan SECOND: Acosta <br /> <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Acosta, Johnson, Luxembourger, McGuigan, Young <br />None <br />Bricken, Griset <br /> <br />The City Manager introduced Roger Kooi, the City's new Downtown <br />Business Director. <br /> <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />CENTERPOINTE PROJECT <br /> <br />The Deputy City Manager of Community & Economic Development <br />introduced MaureenMCAveryof Carley Corporation who in turn introduced <br />Barry Elvansani, ELS Design Group. Mr. Elvansani gave a slide pre- <br />sentation showing other developments in which his design group had <br />participated, including Kalamazoo, Michigan; Troy, New York; Oakland, <br />California; and other cities; showing the blend of a multi-use complex <br />for public offices and private industry. His preliminary suggestion <br />for Santa Ana was a terraced structure with a hotel, restaurant and <br />shops, underground parking, and part of a tower dedicated to City <br />offices with a separate City Hall entrance. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 273 JULY 16, 1984 <br /> <br /> <br />
