<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />(.~~.I' <br />~~ <br />[~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />JULY 5, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION <br />NUMBER 2001-065 TO PROVIDE FOR <br />CONTINUATION OF ADDITIONAL <br />PARTIALLY-PAID TEMPORARY <br />MILITARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE <br />FOR CITY EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />v <br />'P <br /> <br />aJlJ (2 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to provide for continuation <br />of additional partially-paid temporary military leave of absence for city <br />employees called to active duty with the armed forces, and continuation of <br />benefits for their dependents. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On October 1, 2001, the Santa Ana City Council adopted Resolution No. 2001- <br />065, providing for additional partially-paid military leave of absence for <br />full-time officers or employees of the City called to active military service <br />with the Armed Forces of the United States in connection with the then- <br />current military crisis. That Resolution also provided that its terms would <br />expire unless extended by further action of the City Council. <br /> <br />The City Council subsequently adopted two resolutions, Resolution No. 2003- <br />070 and Resolution No. 2004-036, extending the termination date of Resolution <br />No 2001-065 to June 30, 2004, and June 30, 2005, respectively. By adopting <br />the subject resolution, the City Council will extend the termination date to <br />June 30, 2006, and continue to help City employees and their families with <br />financial hardships resulting from being called to active duty in connection <br />with the current military crisis. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no fiscal impact as a result of this change. <br /> <br /> <br />Agency <br /> <br />55A-1 <br />
