" ,/' ,-,/ ,/ <br />\ . / ", <br />{/('/[.<. .,~'/'j., ~-<':j'-~~,---_' <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Curbside Inc. for collection and recycling household hazardous waste. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Last year the City was awarded a grant from the State Integrated Waste <br />Management Board for collection and recycling household hazardous waste. <br />With the grant, residents would be allowed to dispose of their paints, <br />pesticides, chemicals and other household products during the <br />neighborhood cleanups coordinated by Neighborhood Improvement. <br /> <br />The City hired Curbside Inc. to provide the required services including <br />collecting the waste, packaging it for transport and recycling the waste <br />as appropriate. Curbside's services will continue through the thirty-two <br />month term of the grant. <br /> <br />Due to the volume of household hazardous waste put out at the curbside <br />during the neighborhood events, the State has recommended and the <br />contractor has agreed to provide these services on an appointment basis. <br />This will allow residents to gather and put their waste out for <br />collection at an agreed upon time, still providing residents with a <br />convenient method of removing these products from their homes and <br />garages. <br /> <br />25G-1 <br />
