NO. 02-090) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />\,-6 <br /> <br />ClU1a <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Renew the contract with Hughes Supply, formerly Marden Susco for the <br />purchase of Polyvinyl Chloride pipe for a one-year period in an annual <br />amount not to exceed $25,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Water Resources Division of the Public Works Agency uses polyvinyl <br />chloride (PVC) pipe in areas where acidic soil conditions exist. PVC <br />pipe is more resistant to these conditions and is used instead of <br />ductile iron pipe, whenever possible. The pipe is purchased through the <br />Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the Public Works Agency. <br />The contract for PVC pipe is designed to provide quality products at <br />significant savings based on quantity pricing. <br /> <br />On July 15, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract to Hughes Supply, <br />formerly Marden Susco for a one-year period with provision for three <br />one-year renewals. The vendor has agreed to renew the contracti <br />however, the vendor has requested a 11 percent increase due to increases <br />from the manufacturer as a result of rising costs for petroleum based <br />products. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past <br />contract period, and staff recommends the final renewal of the contract. <br /> <br />228-1 <br /> <br />CS JH:J <br />
