The program was <br />successfully developed and implemented at the Mc Fadden Learning and <br />Technology Center. This appropriation adjustment will recognize $200,000 <br />for the second year of a three-year agreement. <br /> <br />The intent of the program is to provide a comprehensive, coordinated <br />approach to the problems of juvenile delinquency through the cooperative <br />efforts of the community and law enforcement. The Leadership Development <br />Strategy was developed as a supplemental service wi th the purpose of <br />reducing the number of suspensions and expulsions at target area schools. <br />Program activities include leadership development opportunities, peer and <br />police officer mentoring, teen club activities, tutoring, educational <br />excursions, family oriented recreation activi ties, and parent education <br />workshops. The program will continue to serve a total of 60 students and <br />their families from Spurgeon Intermediate and Lincoln, Monte Vista, and <br />Jackson elementary schools. <br /> <br />20A-1 <br />
