<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />AUGUST 1, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br />HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION <br />AGREEMENT NO. 2005-02 FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1928 NORTH <br />GREENLEAF STREET <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />1147tZ- <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Christian Tiberius <br />Sharpe and Constantine Sharpe, property owners, for the structure located <br />at 1928 North Greenleaf Street. <br /> <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION <br /> <br />Recommended that the City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare and <br />authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an <br />agreement with Christian Tiberius Sharpe and Constantine Sharpe, property <br />owners, for the structure located at 1928 North Greenleaf Street at its <br />July 7, 2005 meeting by a vote of 6: 0 (Bustamante, Giles, Sarmiento <br />absent) . <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />After the public hearing on July 7, 2005, the Historic Resources <br />Commission reviewed the proposed Historic Property Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) and concluded that the resulting potential property <br />tax savings would encourage the owner to reinvest the tax savings in the <br />maintenance of their historic property, and would benefit both the owner <br />and the community (Exhibit A). Additionally, the agreement prevents <br />inappropriate alterations. <br /> <br />25A-1 <br />
