Athough 1 have not heard what Mr. Lutz is alleged to <br />have done to merit his removal from the PlalUling Commission, it came as quite <br />a surprise to me. <br /> <br />As you may know~ Mr. Lutz is a Preservation Award winner, the founder of, <br />and twice-past president of Washington Square. and a former member of tbe <br />City Council fOr eight yeat.s. He is certainly one of the City's staunchest <br />supponers. <br /> <br />I am told that tonight's Council meeting will be Mr. Lutz's frrst opporttmity to <br />hear the allegadon(s) against him, and that the item vote will be cast tonight. I <br />would think that someone being considered for removal from an important body <br />like the Planning Commission, would be given more opportunity to prepare his <br />rebuttal to such charges~ prior to the casting of the Council's vote. Apart from <br />my respect for Mr. Lutz's past efforts for our City~ tonight's process simply <br />sounds uncharacteristically unfa.ir. <br /> <br />130-1 <br />
