IV. Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. The Mariposa Family Program is designed to meet the special needs of women and families in Santa Ana in a variety of counseling and life skills education programs. These include: individual, couples, family, group, and crisis counseling, substance abuse education and counseling, parenting classes (including a new series in Spanish), bereavement counseling and support, therapeutic groups for men, women, children and teens, anger management and other life skills education, occupational therapy assistance, and other forms of counseling and support. As over 80% of the people served by Mariposa are low income, services are provided on a sliding scale to enable clients to receive services according to their ability to pay. Mariposa's goal is to help low-income women and their families resolve the problems they are experiencing, so that they can go on to lead happy, healthy, productive lives. With respect to Santa residents, our objective is to provide counseling, parenting classes, support groups, and life skills education to at least 170 Santa Ana residents in the course of a year.
