MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />February 22, 1985 <br /> <br />Richard Hughes, facilitator for the Council conference, began the Council <br />workshop at 2:30 p.m., in the Executive Board Ro~m, First American Title <br />Insurance Company, 114 East Fifth Street. Councilmembers present were <br />John Acosta, Wilson B. Hart, P. Lee Johnson, Patricia A. McGuigan and <br />Mayor Daniel E. Griset. Also present were City Attorney Edward J. Cooper, <br />Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy and m~nbers of the City Manager's <br />executive staff. Councilmembers Dan Young and R. W. Luxembourger joined <br />the meeting at 2:39 p.m. and 4:21 p.m., respectively. The City Manager <br />joined the meeting at 3:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Hughes distributed a questionnaire designed to assess thinking styles to <br />participants at the workshop. Following completion of the questionnaire, <br />Hughes reviewed the agenda for the workshop, assisted the group present to <br />develop measures which would assess the success of the workshop and helped <br />the group establish ground rules for participation. <br /> <br />The Councilmembers and the City Manager's executive staff, in two separate <br />groups, then participated in a project planning exercise. Following this <br />exercise, the two groups reassembled for the purpose of computing and <br />comparing individual and group scores, as well as discussing the lessons <br />learned from the exercise in team planning. <br /> <br />The Council recessed at 4:41 p.m., and reconvened at 4:54 p.m., with all <br />members present. <br /> <br />The Council and executive staff, once again, broke into two groups, this <br />time for the purpose of "brainstoming" "visions" for Santa Ana and <br />ranking of those visions. <br /> <br />At 5:46 p.m., the Council recessed to dinner, and reconvened at 7:35 p.m., <br />with all members present. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented the "brainstorming" efforts of the executive <br />staff to the Council, which included the development of a positive slogan <br />for "Santa Ana, The City," and the priorities of manag~ent staff <br />relative to objectives for the City in the next two years. <br /> <br />Councilm~bers and staff discussed specific points of the staff's <br />presentation. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 80 FEBRUARY 22, 1985 <br /> <br /> <br />
