MINUTES OF THE REGUIAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />April 1, 1985 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m., by Mayor Daniel E. <br />Grlset, Room 147, Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. <br />Councilmembers present were Wilson B. Hart, P. Lee Johnson, R. W. <br />Luxembourger, Patricia A. McGuigan, Dan Young and Mayor Griset. Also <br />present were City Manager Robert C. Bobb, City Attorney ~dward J. <br />Cooper and Assistant Clerk of the Council William D. Baron. <br />Councilmember John Acosta joined the meeting at 1:23 p.m. <br /> <br />DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY BUS TOUR <br /> <br />At 1:28 p.m., all members of the City Council, the City Manager, the <br />City Attorney and the Assistant Clerk of the Council ~nbarked on a bus <br />tour which highlighted on-going development activity in the City. <br />The tour returned to City Council Chambers at 3:17 p.m., at which time <br />the Council recessed. The Council reconvened at 3:25 p.m. in Room <br />147, with all members present. <br /> <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Arts and Culture in the Downtown <br /> <br />The Executive Director of Economic Development presented an outline of <br />develounent efforts to increase cultural affairs activities in the <br />City, including improvoments to the T~plo Calvario facility, the Yost <br />Theatre and the Santa Ana High School auditori~m~. The Council was <br />alerted by the Director that some formal organizational structure <br />would be needed to coordinate the use of space in the Santa Ana High <br />School auditori~, and that possibly with the assistance of Santa Ana <br />College officials who had experience in oversight of such facilities, a <br />monitoring body with m~mbers appointed by Clty Council might be <br />created to broker events. Councilmembers commented favorably on <br />staff's efforts and urged staff to be cognizant of scheduling proble~ns <br />for various art entities. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 132 APRIL 1, 1985 <br /> <br /> <br />
