Linear Systems Digital Camera Technology
Linear Systems sells several models of DIMSTM Digital Cameras purchased under OEM
(Original Equipment Manufacturer) contract directly from several manufacturers that
include specialized, value added modifications to the function and file format of the
cameras specifically for law enforcement and government applications. In many
applications, the DIMSTM Digital Camera can be customized by Linear for a specific
agency's requirements. These DIMSTM cameras are supported directly by Linear
Systems and carry the full manufacturer's warranty in all cases, and in some cases,
include extended multi-year enhanced warranties. These cameras are designed to be fully
compatible with the DIMSTM software and systems solutions and each camera includes
an installed DIMSTM Camera Acquisition Module. These cameras are sold exclusively as
DIMSTM Digital Cameras by Linear Systems.
Linear Systems provides specific and proprietary DIMSTM Camera Acquisition Modules
for specific digital cameras. These modules are provided on a one per camera basis.
DIMSTM is capable of authenticating and validating photographs from digital cameras in
two ways. The first utilizes the manufacturer's RAW file format directly from the
camera. The optional second method is available for an additional level of security.
Using this process, DIMSTM encrypts and authenticates images using the DIMSTM Veri-
Cert Module. This optional level of authentication can be used for images captured from
cameras that do not have the RAW file option such as IPEG only cameras. Both the
JPEG files and RAW files can be authenticated using the DIMSTM Veri-Cert Module in
both the active case directory and the archive.
To enable the DIMSTM Veri-Cert Module, Linear DIMSTM software requires pixel
mapping of the sensor for each digital camera. This process is done at Linear Systems
and requires three photographs from each digital camera under a controlled test
environment to build a unique sensor map and create an authentication file for each
camera. This is performed using an advanced HASH encryption algorithm applied to the
sensor map, which creates the validation. Linear Systems then uploads the digital
camera's firmware in order to make it compliant with an agency's Policies and
Procedures. This is a non-destructive function but requires uploading the DIMSTM
module that is unique to individual cameras.
Linear Systems provides DIMSTM RAW Camera Acquisition Modules for certain
cameras at no charge. The labor cost for creating the DIMSTM Veri-Cert calibration, then
uploading and maintaining the firmware for each digital camera is $100 per camera for
existing cameras or is included in the cost of a camera when purchased from Linear at the
time of purchase. Linear is competitive on digital camera pricing for new, in the box,
factory complete digital camera kits with manufacturer's USA factory warranty.
Please call for specific pricing and availability for DIMSTM Digital Cameras, DIMSTM
Camera Acquisition Modules, DIMSTM V eri-Cert Modules, and DIMSTM software and
systems solutions.
LINEAR SYSTEMS
LAW ENFORCEMENT
DIVISION
