<br />FY 2005 Homeland Security <br />Grant Programs <br />September 19, 2005 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Medical Response System funding program (MMRS) assists <br />highly populated jurisdictions to develop plans, conduct training and <br />exercises, and acquire pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment, <br />to achieve the enhanced capability necessary to respond to a mass casualty <br />event caused by a terrorist act. The City of Santa Ana has been awarded <br />funding under this program in the amount of $220,764. <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana Police and Fire Departments have worked with the <br />County of Orange and cities wi thin our Urban Area to determine current <br />capabilities and needs, and have established goals and objectives for the <br />Urban Area. The Santa Ana Urban Area will work in collaboration with the <br />City of Anaheim and its Urban Area to implement complimentary strategies <br />for responding to acts of terrorism. In addition, staff is proposing that <br />a portion of the grant funding be used for the addition of one new Police <br />Lieutenant assigned to manage the UASI Grant Program. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Approval of the Appropriation Adjustment will increase revenues in the FY <br />2005 UASI Grant account (account no. 125-01-5350-5) by $8,220,754, and <br />appropriate same into the FY 2005 UASI Grant expenditure accounts (account <br />nos. 125-333-various, 125-014-6933).
