NO. 05-086) <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Brown Motor Works for the purchase of four police <br />equipment motorcycles in the amount of $79,735. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program <br />is included in the City's annual budget, and identifies vehicles <br />scheduled for replacement. Funding is monitored through a depreciation <br />schedule established with each department. <br /> <br />The Police Department's Traffic Division uses specially equipped <br />motorcycles for traffic patrol. The Fleet Maintenance Division has <br />replacement guidelines that require motorcycles with over 50,000 miles <br />to be replaced, as maintenance costs increase dramatically at this <br />milestone. Four Police motorcycles have been identified and approved <br />for replacement for fiscal year 2005-2006. Three of the motorcycles <br />have mileage that exceeds the 50,000 mileage mark and the fourth <br />motorcycle is in need of replacement due to a collision, rendering it <br />inoperable. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on August 10 and 12, <br />bids were solicited.
