Award a contract to A.R. Sarmiento Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in <br />accordance with unit bid prices for an estimated amount of $341,220. <br /> <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost of <br />$426,700. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />This project involves the construction of a new water main and <br />appurtenances along Main Street from MacArthur Boulevard to Sunflower <br />Avenue (Exhibit 1). The work includes the construction of a new water <br />main, fire hydrants and water services. Once completed, this project will <br />eliminate water main breaks and leaks associated with the older and <br />deteriorated water main, and enhance water service capacity and fire <br />protection to the surrounding neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Previous bids were rejected On July 5, 2005, in order to revise the scope <br />of work within the available budget and staff was authorized to re- <br />advertise the project. The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on July <br />27 and 29, 2005, and bids were opened on August 24, 2005.
