<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 19, 2005 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING <br />PARTICIPATION IN THE STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA RECREATIONAL <br />TRAILS PROGRAM <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 sl Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />: / /;:)- I ) <br />t:/a'ct\'~Nf~~ c____ - <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application in the <br />amount of $240,000 for the Recreational Trails Program under the State of <br />California Department of Parks and Recreation for the enhancement of the <br />Santiago Creek Bike Trail. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Recreational Trails Program was established under the Transportation <br />Equity Act for the 21st Century and provides funds annually for <br />recreational trails and trail-related projects. Approximately $2.2 <br />million per year is available for non-motorized projects. <br /> <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency is requesting <br />authorization to submit a grant application in the amount of $240,000 for <br />the enhancement of the Santiago Creek Bike Trail, from Santiago Park to <br />the Interstate 5 Freeway. The proposed project will improve the area of <br />the trail that runs under the Main Street Bridge by installing fencing, <br />interpretive graphics, lighting, and reconstructing the trail by the <br />Discovery Museum, Broadway, and the Interstate 5 Freeway. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br /> <br /> <br />Gerardo Mouet <br />Executive Dir ctor <br />Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency <br /> <br />558-1 <br />
