<br />responsibilities of another classification, may request a classification review oftheir position <br />through their supervisor to the Department Head. The employee must submit their request <br />on a form specified by the Executive Director of Personnel Services, outlining in writing how <br />they believe their current duties and/or responsibilities differ from their classification <br />concept. <br /> <br />A. The Department Head will review the employee's submitted request and within sixty <br />(60) days will make one of the following determinations: <br /> <br />I. Will support the employee's request. <br /> <br />a. If the Department Head supports the employee's request for a <br />classification review, he or she will forward the request to the <br />Executive Director of Personnel Services along with justification for <br />support of the employee's request. <br /> <br />b. The Department Head will notify the employee that his or her request <br />has been submitted to the Executive Director of Personnel Services. <br /> <br />2. Will not support the employee's request. <br /> <br />a. If the Department Head does not support the employee's request for <br />a classification review, he or she will notify the employee of this <br />decision in writing and set forth the basis for the decision. <br /> <br />b. If the Department Head does not support the employee's request, but <br />agrees that some ofthe duties and/orresponsibilities being performed <br />by the employee are those of a higher level City classification, he or <br />she can do the following: <br /> <br />I. Return the employee to performance of the duties and/or <br />responsibilities of their proper classification. <br /> <br />2. Eliminate the higher duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee, for which the City has agreed are <br />those for which it will provide higher compensation. <br /> <br />B. Any employee request for classification review approved by the Department Head <br />will be forwarded to the Executive Director of Personnel Services. The Executive <br />Director of Personnel Services will confirm receipt ofthe request in writing to the <br />employee. Within sixty (60) days of receipt of the request, the Executive Director <br />of Personnel Services will notify the employee and Department Head ofthe decision <br />as to whether a study will be conducted. If the Executive Director of Personnel <br />Services determines that a study is appropriate, the Executive Director of Personnel <br />Services will so notify the employee and the Department Head in writing and will <br /> <br />15 <br />
