Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12- month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. The "Steps to Independence" program is a transitional shelter program. Through the 'Steps to Independence," "Senior Step," "First Step" programs, WISEPlace provides shelter, food, clothing, counseling, and supportive services for women who are living alone. The women served include the following: victims of domestic violence, recovering substance abusers, youth emancipating from the foster care system, and senior women. The goal of the "Steps" programs is to take homeless women off the street and rehabilitate them, enabling them to re-establish themselves as fully functioning members of the community. The short-term goal is to make each program participant self-sufficient so they will not become a statistic in this or any other shelter in the future. Sub -goals include: strengthening each woman's coping skills; developing each woman's sense of integrity and self-worth, enabling each woman to have a choice in determining her future, and empowering her to address her issues directly. The specific use of the ESG funds is to provide case management and employment coordination services for the residents. Further the funds will be used to provide a safe and Ex, A
