<br />ARTICLE V <br /> <br />5.0 ASSIGNMENT & OTHER SPECIAL PAY ADDITIVES OR DIFFERENTIALS <br /> <br />5.1 Assignment pay differentials, as listed herein and <br />throughout the contract, will, in each case, be added <br />individually and separately to the employee's base salary. <br />In no event shall one assignment pay differential be added <br />to the employee's base salary as a basis for the <br />calculation of an additional pay differential. <br /> <br />5.2 With the exception of Step-Up Pay and Bilingual Pay, no <br />employee shall be eligible for more than one (1) permanent <br />assignment pay at a time when assigned to Fire <br />Suppression. <br /> <br />5.3 Bilingual Pay. Qualified employees who meet the following <br />criteria will be paid a monthly pay differential in an <br />amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the <br />Step "E" base monthly salary rate of Firefighter by five <br />(5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Assignment by the Fire Chief <br />position requiring regular <br />bilingual capacity in both <br />Vietnamese or other languages <br />Manager; and <br /> <br />or his designee to a <br />and frequent use of <br />English and Spanish, <br />designated by the City <br /> <br />B. Certification by the chief personnel officer or his or <br />her designee as having satisfactorily demonstrated <br />conversational fluency in both languages; and <br /> <br />C. Written approval of the City Manager. <br /> <br />5.4 Paramedic Duty Pay. <br /> <br />A. All personnel who have successfully completed the <br />requisi te paramedic training program, possess a valid <br />Paramedic license, and are accredited by the County of <br />Orange are eligible to be assigned to perform <br />paramedic duty. <br /> <br />B. Each such eligible employee who is assigned to perform <br />the duties of a Firefighter/Paramedic, on a full-time <br />basis, shall be paid an assignment pay differential in <br />an amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying <br />the Step "E" base monthly salary rate of Firefighter by <br />25 salary rate ranges (approximately 12.5%) This <br />differential shall be paid to each such employee <br /> <br />17 <br />
