Qualifications: Requirements for all education may be <br />met prior to employment with the Santa Ana Fire <br />Department; transcripts must be provided. <br /> <br />Requirements pertaining to Specialized Duty Assignments <br />may be met with any and all previous service. A letter <br />from an immediate supervisor attesting to the service <br />shall be submitted. <br /> <br />Requirements pertaining to Elective <br />wi th any and all previous service. <br />immediate supervisor attesting to <br />submitted. Substitution Options: <br />1. An affected employee who, during the term of this <br />Agreement, is unsuccessful in securing an <br />appointment to one of the Specialized Duty <br />Assignments specified above after having formally <br />applied for each and every such assignment he or she <br />has not already completed, may substitute an <br />additional certificate required for the particular <br />incentive level the employee is pursuing. <br /> <br />2. Subject to the condition that it would not be deemed <br />to constitute "hours worked" under provisions of the <br />Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-paid volunteer <br />service with a recognized Santa Ana or Orange County <br />Community service or charitable organization which <br />serves Santa Ana residents directly or indirectly <br />may be substituted for up to 50% of the service time <br />specified in Committee Work. <br /> <br />7.5 Career Development Program Implementation Committee. The <br />Fire Chief agrees to establish a joint labor-management <br />committee to advise and assist in the implementation and <br />ongoing review of the efficacy of the Career Development <br />Program. The committee will also review and recommend <br />additions, deletions or modifications to the list of <br />specialized duty committee and/or instruction assignments. <br /> <br />36 <br />
