<br />ARTICLE VIII <br /> <br />8.0 TRAINING & EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br /> <br />8.1 Purposes. <br /> <br />A. To encourage the employees of the City of Santa Ana to <br />take college courses and special training courses <br />which will better enable them to perform their present <br />duties and prepare them for increased responsi- <br />bilities. <br /> <br />B. To provide financial assistance to eligible employees <br />for education and training. <br /> <br />C. To establish eligibility requirements, conditions and <br />procedures whereby such assistance may be provided. <br /> <br />8.2 Eligibility. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Applications for <br />considered only <br />employees who have <br /> <br />tuition reimbursement will <br />from full-time, permanent <br />completed probation. <br /> <br />be <br />City <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Reimbursement <br />the employee <br />other sources <br />etc. <br /> <br />is not authorized for courses for which <br />is receiving financial assistance from <br />such as the G.I. For example, a <br />Fire Engineer is a candidate for an A.A. Degree in <br />Fire Science and has completed all course work <br />directly related to his or her fire suppression <br />duties. A course in American History is required for <br />the degree. The history course may qualify for <br />tuition reimbursement because the degree can be <br />related to the employee's job. <br /> <br />E. <br /> <br />Prior <br />must <br />grade <br /> <br />to receiving tuition reimbursement, employees <br />submit documentary proof of having received a <br />of not less than .C. for the course.
