As civilian Paramedics are converted to Suppression <br /> <br />personnel, that number of <br />included in the Operations <br />Suppression strength. <br /> <br />positions <br />Division <br /> <br />shall be <br />authorized <br /> <br />2. Vacancies or absences shall be filled by overtime <br />on a rank-for-rank basis in accordance with the <br />existing provisions of the voluntary overtime <br />program and the provisions of the Force Hire <br />Program (for specifics of the Force Hire program, <br />please refer to Departmental policy). To allow for <br />the reassignment of personnel and equipment for the <br />purposes of training, attending meetings, and the <br />smooth operation of the Department, employees shall <br />be allowed to work out-of-rank for periods of less <br />than 12 hours. <br /> <br />3. During the term of this Agreement, the minimum <br />staffing level (without Battalion Chiefs) <br />Suppression and EMS shall be as follows: <br /> <br />daily <br />for <br /> <br />. July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2006: 64 <br /> personnel <br />. July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007: 65 <br /> personnel <br />. July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008: 66 <br /> personnel <br /> <br />The hiring practice will be to hire Firefighters as <br />follows: <br /> <br />. July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2006: When the <br /> staffing level reaches 192 permanent employees <br /> assigned to Suppression, the City will then <br /> hire to a staffing level of 198 permanent <br /> employees assigned to Suppression. <br />. July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007: When the <br /> staffing level reaches 195 permanent employees <br /> <br />44 <br />
