VISTOR AND CULTURAL EVENTS BUREAU <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Perkins overviewed the Vistor and Cultural Events Budget, <br />explaining that due to decreased funding only four major projects had been <br />budgeted: the Rose Parade Float, Cinco de Mayo, the Golden City Days Festival, <br />and Toys on Parade, and two community events had been deleted, the Summer <br />Music Festival and the Ambassadors Ball. She explained that although the <br />Ambassadors Ball had been deleted from the City's budget, that staff hoped to <br />continue the function within another event, perhaps as an up-scale reception <br />as opposed to a sit-down dinner. <br /> <br />Councilmembers expressed concerns relative to the decrease in community events. <br /> <br />At 9:13 p.m., Councilmember Young left the meeting. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING <br /> <br />The Executive Director of Communications and Marketing briefly reviewed the <br />staffing for her department, and showed a video tape which demonstrated the <br />activities of the Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan expressed concern regarding the use of Cable T.V. fees <br />for other than cable activities, but the City Attorney indicated he knew of no <br />such restrictions on the use of franchise fees. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed several of the activities of the Department, and <br />expressed concern that the Public Information Desk in the front lobby of City <br />Hall was not staffed by a full-time person.
