ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Nancy Rankin, 2117 N. Olive, addressed the Council, expressing <br />support for the City's continuing legal efforts with respect to the <br />Mitchell Brothers Theatre. She presented a petition with signatures <br />to the Council to demonstrate the extent of community support for the <br />City's efforts in this matter. FILE 402.05 <br /> <br />Jo Plogger, 40 Roosevelt, Irvine, addressed the Council, urging <br />continuation of legal efforts with respect to the Mitchell Brothers <br />Theatre. <br /> <br />Bob Thompson, 502 Onyx, addressed the Council, regarding excessive <br />mobilepark rent increases. <br /> <br />Hy Allison, 1601 Lake Park, addressed the Council, with respect to <br />the issue of City compliance with decisions of the Supreme Court. <br /> <br />William Noble, 1500 E. Warren, #194, addressed the Council, regarding <br />rent control. <br /> <br />Mary Acala, 1001 N. Freeman, addressed Council, with respect to the <br />relocation of a house scheduled to be demolished. Council requested <br />staff report on this issue raised by Ms. Acala at the meeting of <br />Tuesday, August 19, 1986. <br /> <br />COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS <br /> <br />Councilmember Hart advised staff of the Northeast Santa Ana Little <br />League's problem at Cabrillo Park with inadequate field dimensions; <br />he requested that staff investigate a complaint that autos are being <br />rebuilt on the street in the area of Wright and 14th Street; and <br />asked staff to investigate car washing activity at the former <br />Rent-A-Dent site. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan suggested that in light of our new telephone <br />system and recent reorganizations that staff should try to publish <br />and make available to the public an updated telephone directory. <br /> <br />Councilmember Luxembourger circulated an application to <br />Councilmembers to consider as a replacement position for Parks & <br />Recreation to fill an existing vacancy through November; and <br />requested staff devise a program to refurbish the City's 1923 Fire <br />truck and report to Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta asked staff to verify ice cream carts commonly <br />seen on the weekends were properly licensed by the City; inquired as <br />to the date when the proposed language for the barbed wire ordinance <br />would be returned to Council; and asked staff to provide a status <br />report on Bid Spec 86-008. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta reaffirmed his position against pornography. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />340 <br /> <br />AUGUST 18, 1986 <br /> <br /> <br />
