TO EVALUATE <br />THE CREATION OF A JOINT FIRE <br />DISPATCH CENTER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />('\X:~' <br /> <br />~~1v.~4 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Management Partners Inc. <br />to evaluate the creation of a joint fire dispatch center in an amount not <br />to exceed $29,500. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fire Departments from Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley have <br />expressed interest in having Santa Ana Fire Dispatch provide fire <br />dispatching service to them. In order to evaluate the feasibility of <br />creating this type of j oint fire dispatch center, the Santa Ana Fire <br />Department recommends the expertise of Management Partners Inc. Management <br />Partners, Inc. was created in 1994 and has worked for clients by analyzing <br />service levels, identifying improvements and evaluating consolidation <br />alternatives. Using their experience, Management Partners, Inc. will <br />analyze the potential of a consolidated Fire Dispatch Center. As part of <br />the agreement, Management Partners will perform a thorough evaluation and <br />create a plan of action, including estimating start-up operation costs. <br />The j oint dispatch center would be under the authority of the Santa Ana <br />Fire Chief and has the potential to create a significant revenue source for <br />the City. <br /> <br />25A-1 <br />
