Adopt a resolution supporting federal funding for a traffic signal <br />proj ect at 5th. Street and Jackson Street and authorizing the Executive <br />Director of the Public Works Agency to submit the project for funding <br />consideration under the Hazard Elimination Safety Program. <br /> <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting $237,600 into the Hazard <br />Elimination Safety fund revenue account (account no. 147-01-5350) and <br />appropriate the funds to expenditure account (account no. 147-651-6631). <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Last year staff submitted an application for 5th Street and Jackson <br />Street for Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) funding. The City has received <br />approval of the proposed grant of $237,600. The City Council must also <br />adopt a resolution and authorize the Executive Director of the Public <br />Works Agency to formally submit the project for funding as required by <br />Caltrans. <br /> <br />This grant will provide for the design and construction of a traffic <br />signal at the intersection of 5th Street and Jackson Street. City <br />matching funds in the amount of $26,400 are required. Traffic signal <br />design is underway and installation is expected in September 2006. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Environmental review will be conducted for this project and will be <br />presented to the City Council when the construction contract is awarded. <br />This type of project typically qualifies for a Categorical Exemption. <br /> <br />55A-1 <br /> <br />
