<br />10/11105 les <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-103 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA IN <br />SUPPORT OF AIR FAIR, A POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE, TO HALT <br />EXPANSION OF THE JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The people who live and work under the John Wayne Airport ("JWA") flight <br />path have done more than their fair share to live with the impacts of Orange <br />County air travel. <br /> <br />B. A strong community-driven citizen force is needed to say "NO" to further <br />expansions of JW A. <br /> <br />C. The annual passenger cap (Million Annual Passengers - "MAP") will now <br />allow for 10.8 MAP along with new gates and additional flights to <br />accommodate the increased passenger loads. <br /> <br />D. The new agreement extends through the year 2015, with curfew through year <br />2020. <br /> <br />E. The pressure to expand JWA will continue to occur and grow during the time <br />span of the agreement. <br /> <br />F. A political action committee named Air Fair has been formed to create a <br />strong and broad citizen force, and is premised on the belief that residents <br />throughout the JWA flight path must unite and actively work together to <br />secure permanent caps, noise limitations and comprehensive curfews at <br />JWA. <br /> <br />G. Air Fair will act cooperatively with other groups such as the Airport Working <br />Group, but fill the void that is needed to focus specifically on limits at JWA. <br /> <br />H. The efforts of Air Fair can be significantly enhanced by sponsoring <br />organizations including the support of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City of Santa Ana hereby expresses its support of Air Fair and its <br />purpose, and will join the organization by allowing its name to be used as a Sponsoring <br />Organization. <br /> <br />Resolution 2005-103 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
