According to City building permit <br />records, the house and garage were built for Carl W. Smiley, a real estate salesman who lived down the street, at 1015 North <br />Olive. Apparen/ly, the house was built on speculation; listings in the city directories for 1112 North Olive for the first few years <br />labeled the occupancy as "transient.' After a one year residency of Howard B. and Jessica Rapp in 1927, the house became <br />the home of Hubert B. and Frances N. Nail. Hubert B. Nail was an oral surgeon, a graduate of and later teacher at the <br /> <br />(See Continuation Sheet 3 of 3.) <br /> <br />B11.
